Is it Babysitting when they are YOUR kids??
My mom and I were talking and she told me that this guy at her work calls it babysitting when he watches his kids. This is always a discussion in our house because Jared calls it babysitting too when I tell him I am going somewhere and that he will have the kids. I tell him that if it is his kids it isn't considered babysitting. You don't get paid and you don't go home when you are done. Do your husbands do this or is it just mine and some other crazy husbands out there??

RATS!
I am utterly disgusted! We have roof rats! Last night we saw that Champ had caught one and it was on our back porch. Then as I was going out to get the mail I heard running up the tree and saw a rat jump onto our roof. Luckily my exterminator called yesterday to say that he was coming by for our quarterly spraying. He will also be setting some traps. I just hope they don't get in my house. I am thinking they like the orange trees outside the house and that's how this problem was started.

French Toast Fingers

This school year I have been wanting to change our morning breakfast up a bit from the usual cereal or bagel. So I made French Toast Fingers this morning and my kids loved them. It adds a little fun to your regular french toast. I have to say I did not end up trying them so I cannot give my opinion on them but I figure kids are a good tester since it is for them. In case you want to try them I got it off of the kraft foods website.

First Day of School
First Day of Kindergarden for Julian and first day of Pre K for Payton. They were really excited to go back to school. I will probably regret this years from now but I couldn't wait for them to go either. It has been a good summer but it's time. We started the day off right with some banana pancakes and o.j. by request. Our first day ran smoothly and we were out the door on time.

I thought Julian would be a little hesitant on me leaving but he did awesome. He found his table with his name and pencil box on it and sat right down and said "bye mom". He wasn't nervous at all. I stayed for roll call and then the teacher shooed all the parents out. I couldn't help the tears in my eyes. My little man was off into the real world. When I picked him up he had a big smile and told me that he had a great day and that one little boy even asked if he could be his friend and he said "sure".

Payton still has one more year in preschool and she was so excited to have a new teacher who is just wonderful. Mrs. Geni is her name and she is too cute and we already love her. She was not happy that we had to take Julian to school first and he had a lunch (she had a short day so no lunch today) and it wasn't fair that he got to stay at school longer. I wonder if she'll feel the same way about school in a few years. But she sure loves it and can't wait to go tomorrow.

Our 2 Week Trip to Bear Lake Utah
We got back a month ago but better late then never. We had such a great time and we definitely did not want to leave. Brace yourself there are a lot of my favorite pics even though I did not get pictures our constant hangout "Yellow Snow" (Aunt Tessa's Hawaiian Shave Ice store), water skiing or of us playing at the beach. Here are some of the fun pictures from our trip.

Lots of Horse Riding

We did two days of rock climbing. The kids did the first climb and got all the way to the top. The were great!
Our spur of the moment decision over dinner, camping trip. Jared found a really neat camping ground right next to Logan River. They got it all together in less than two hours. Carlye, Dad, Micah and I did not stay the night. We just stayed for the campfire and smores.
