The Computer has been calling my name...

I'm here! The computer really has been calling my name to post the pictures from the past few months but I think the push was from the relief society activity tonight. It was on journaling. We had a bunch of GREAT ideas shown to us on how to keep journals that just made me think "ugh...where do I start!" Blogging was actually one of them and as we all know I am not that great at keeping up with my blog. But...besides the point. I have a journal and I think I have only written in it once...the day I was baptized. After tonight I realized it probably would be good for me to have something written down for my kids to read one day. On anything really. My daily struggles, my testimony, where I am at in life at this point in time. Really if I don't keep anything about myself for my kids, grandkids, greatgrandkids and so on....I will just disappear in a sense. I want to leave my stamp in the world ya know. One idea I thought was great was making a book with all your pictures from the year. And I know it sounds like a blog book but it's a little bit different. This could really be done in one day. It's kind of like Shutterfly where you can make a book and add captions or quotes and they have different backgrounds. The book that was shown tonight was pretty neat. Other ideas were keeping a journal for your kids so they get in the habit, which I thought was a great idea and will start doing with Julian and Payton. They can tell you about their day and maybe draw pictures in it. And they will love it because they will know it's theirs. There were so many other great things that I can't really think of but the important thing for me is to start doing and implementing this in my life. You all are probably good at journaling but I am not! So this is a new goal for me and I think it is a good one.

I am horrible at keeping a journal - but I agree with you - it's important! I need to be better, but for now, blogging is about all I can fit into my schedule. I like your idea of helping your kids keep journals...I'm going to try that! GOOD LUCK!

I went to this enrichment night once on journaling and this girl had so many good ideas. One I thought was cool, was that so many things are keepsakes. So you just keep a box or tupperware, file box - whatever, and occasionally throw things in it. Grocery store receipts, a to-do list, an old recipe in your handwriting. All of those things are a piece of who you were. I remember when my grandpa died, one thing that my mom kept for a while was the grocery list he had been making that was on his kitchen counter top. It was just cool to see what he was gonna pick up at the store that week, and what his favorite snacks were. Does that make sense? Anyway, I have always thought that was a cool idea, too, and low stress b/c you are always throwing those things away.
